Lazing on a Thursday afternoon..

Ahhh! Morning, I thought as the clock struck 10:00
As unusual as it has been for me to lie in, and trust me on this, it's very unusual. Since I've been here though, I've barely needed the alarm clock. My body has been oddly wide awake around 7:30 each day. Today was the same, but the snooze button was tapped many a time, and I revelled in 'not getting up'.
The reason for this, is as I'm flying down to Welly tomorrow, I decided to spend the day sorting my stuff out, and packing. Also doing a bit of writing, and having a wander around the peninsula, as there were a couple of photos I wanted to get, such as the 'not normal in my world' sign.

Also, a couple of the nice houses in the area.

My personal favourite,

And to just mess around with the camera.

Judging by the racket going on outside the window right now, I made the correct choice, it's belting down out there!
I've been lucky with the rain so far on this trip, my stroll along the coast path and back into the centre of the peninsula, was sunny and warm. It was only once I'd settled into my seat in the Fuze coffee shop & cafe that the rain hit.
I couldn't have cared less at that point as I'd just ordered a flat white, a chicken sandwich and a beer for lunch. I'm starting to fall in love with the Fuze coffee shop, not only did they serve me up the most fantastic breakfast on Saturday, the coffee is excellent. Then, to top it off the chicken sandwich was... Well, in the words of the M&S TV ad, this was no ordinary chicken sandwich. This is a chicken, bacon, sun dried tomato, onion chutney & mayo sandwich, served in toasted focaccia bread, with a rocket and mild chilli salad..... and.... Curly Fries!!!!!
I would love to post a picture of this culinary masterpiece, but I'd scoffed most of it before thinking about that.
If you're in Auckland, drop in there. It's out of the way if you're doing tourist type things, but by god it's worth it!!
By the time I'd fattened myself up, and drank the last of my after lunch espresso the rain had decided to move on and soak the next suburb.

Back at the Fortress, and I've managed to get a couple of bits of writing done that I was keen to get sent off, and the packing is going.... Ok, I will start on the packing very soon, but as BM in her infinite kindness, and much to her own regret, had bought me a Ukulele so I didn't have to pack my own.. Well, it seemed like to good an opportunity to play while the house is empty.
In fact, that is one of the rules laid down by BM. NO playing the Uke while she, or anybody else with hearing, is in the house. That's all fair and good, but they don't know what they're missing! If they did, I doubt I'd be allowed to play it at all.
So that will be all until I touch down in Wellington tomorrow, I'll see you again Te Atatu & Auckland, but right now, I've got me some more exploring to do!
